Library Assistant III
To perform a wide variety of tasks under the general supervision of the school principal including technical and instructional tasks in the school site media center. Responsible for making numerous independent decisions, typically made by a media specialist.
Directly responsible to the site principal and the district Technology Coordinator.
1. Schedules classes for media skills instruction and research, collaborates with teachers to design instructional units.
2. Provides media skills instruction to scheduled classes.
3. Supervises students in the media center including classes, student aides, and drop-in students.
4. Oversees circulation of all media center materials including running overdue notices, billing, and reports.
5. Maintains the media center collections including weeding and repair.
6. Oversees textbook circulation and processing.
7. Publishes bibliographies and communicates with staff about new materials.
8. Trains staff and students in the use of library equipment and software.
9. Oversees video network server updates and scheduling of events including loading tapes on a daily basis.
10. Purchases materials for the media center using basic cataloging procedures.
11. Processes materials for the media center.
12. Inventories media materials and textbooks.
13. Attends faculty, collaboration, media specialist, and other meetings as required.
14. Communicates with parents concerning media center matters as needed.
15. Maintains the media center environment including bulletin board displays.

F. EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of Library Clerk II or comparable experience in a school library system.
