We are looking to fill a full-time medical billing clerk position for a busy clinic. This position is temporary, but could become permanent for the individual. Must have experience with medical billing, prior authorizations, or insurance authorizations. EPIC is preferred, but not required. This position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Wages are $18-$24 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
Able to enter new patient demographics, paying attention to details.
Have a strong knowledge of insurance companies and their requirements.
This includes online claim follow-up and websites.
Possesses strong computer skills, including Windows and the Internet.
Evaluate schedules daily for new appointments made within the two-week time frame.
Identifying self-pay accounts, insurance authentication, insurance authorization requirements, and patient balances.
If any action is required will have knowledge to complete follow through.
Able to acquire authorizations for all in-house office visits for all insurances.
Do all the necessary requests and follow up.
Use the instant message system for questions related to billing or office authorizations.
Able to answer all insurance’
billing questions and fulfill record requests. Conversely, able to communicate practice concerns to insurance companies (ie, denials and late payments) courteously and professionally.
Able to answer patient questions and educate as needed.
Able to communicate with patients professionally and clearly while making appropriate allowances for patients’ disabilities, both face-to-face and over the phone.
Able to enter and audit outside hospital reads for correctness in both inpatient and outpatient arenas.
Able to process and interpret statements.
Interpret business office reports as requested by the Manager
Able to communicate with co-workers, physicians, and management concisely and professionally.
Able to document correctly and thoroughly in the billing system.
Able to identify overpayments and fill out proper documents for reimbursement.
Assist as needed in other clinical situations depending on experience and direction of management.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
