MEDICAL WRITER

Job Summary

The Medical Writer supports the Medical team in the research, development, and delivery of scientifically accurate and compelling content across healthcare and pharmaceutical projects. This individual will help translate complex medical and scientific concepts into clear, digestible materials for healthcare professionals (HCPs), clients, and internal stakeholders, with guidance and oversight from senior team members.

This position is ideal for individuals with strong scientific writing skills, a passion for healthcare communications, and a desire to grow within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

 

Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)

Scientific Research & Content Development
  • Assist in researching therapeutic areas, clinical data, and treatment trends to support content development.
  • Draft and edit various materials including slide decks, fact sheets, digital content, and literature summaries.
  • Translate clinical and scientific information into accessible, engaging messages for HCP audiences.
  • Support the creation of medical education and promotional content, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Monitor key journals and updates to remain current on therapeutic innovations and healthcare communications trends.
  • Attend professional conferences or live advisory board meetings to capture and summarize key presentation or discussion highlights
Medical & Regulatory Compliance
  • Learn and adhere to regulatory standards (e.g., PhRMA, ACCME, FDA) and best practices for medical communications.
  • Assist in the preparation and revision of content for Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) review processes.
  • Maintain familiarity with clinical literature and treatment guidelines relevant to assigned projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Account, Creative, Strategy) to align content with broader campaign goals.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and content reviews.
  • Provide logistical or content support for client presentations, training materials, and internal workshops.
 

Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)

 
  • MD, PharmD, or PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • 0-2 years of experience in medical writing, scientific communications, or medical Strong research and analytical skills, with experience using PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and other medical literature databases
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), reference management tools, and presentation software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Knowledge of industry compliance and regulatory requirements for healthcare communications
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Medical, Account, Creative, and Digital teams
  • Must be able to work in EST work time zone
  • Ability to travel to client meetings and professional conferences, when applicable
  • Goes above and beyond the job description and has the willingness to be flexible for the team, agency, and ultimately the work
